Inclusion / exclusion / identity: press articles background archive

Introduction

Lack of inclusion is the most important reason for Nepal's current political and social crisis, even though this is denied by most of the countries political players, be it the king and his advisors, the leaders of the political parties, or the Maoists. All of them do not play more than lip service to the issue. Either they are not aware of the gravity of the problem because of their own education and social background or they simply put their own interests higher than those of the country's majority population, i.e. the numerous ethnic groups, the Dalits, the Tarai groups, and the women in general, especially those from the just mentioned population groups who are facing double discrimination.

We have added this subsite on inclusion on June 17, 2003 to make the political aspect more popular. Related and earlier articles can be found in the "society" part of our web site, especially on the subsites on ethnicity, Dalits, women, castes and bonded labour.
